Collection of your personal information

In order to prove your claim we usually require medical, employment, income, tax, education, family and insurance related information about you depending on the nature of the case. We will ask you to sign a number of written authorizations to allow us to gather the necessary information. You do not have to provide the authorization but we may be unable to proceed with your claim if you do not. We will only request information which is necessary to process your claim.

Use of your personal information

We may use your information to prove your claim in the following ways:
  • We will provide copies to the defendant’s insurance company or their lawyer as required by law in order to make proper disclosure of your case;
  • We may provide copies to doctors, accountants and other professionals with whom we are consulting or seeking reports concerning your case;
  • We may file the information as evidence in court for a trial, motion or pre-trial conference.

Control of your personal information

  • The information that we collect in relation to your case may be protected by solicitor-client privilege, in which case we may not disclose it without your authorization. You implicitly authorize appropriate use of your personal information for the purpose of your case.;
  • Any information which we provide to the defendant’s insurance company or their lawyer must not be used by them, or the defendant for any purpose which is not legitimately related to the case; it cannot be disclosed to third parties for any other purpose. This information remains confidential unless and until it is given as evidence in court, at which time it becomes a matter of public record;
  • Personal information collected from timleighbell.ca will be securely stored at our office or in secure, dedicated offsite storage. We will not sell, loan, or rent any personal information that we collect to any other organization. We may disclose personal information about you to other companies or people when:
a. We have your authorization to do so;
b. We need to in order to service a request that you have made.
c. We respond to court orders or some other legal process.

Use of cookies
